| The view from my room |
Home. It makes me think of cookies and candles and endless loads of laundry. Its so strange thinking that we're finally going to have our own house and our own land. Already, I've got chickens and goats and horses and cows on my mind... Sometimes I wonder if I'm only dreaming, if I'm going to wake up one day and find out that the last year never happened. And then I go and walk our property with the dog and realize, I'm finally home!! I'm not borrowing someone elses' dirt, I've got my own. Twenty beautiful acres of it! If I want to dig, I can dig. If I want to build, I can build. If I want to own an elephant, I CAN OWN AN ELEPHANT! Cause' its ours. All of it. Sure, the dirt was over farmed and needs work if we're going to grow anything, but, hey, its ours. Now I know what motivates people to fight for their country. In the end, we are fighting for THE LAND. It is one of the all-important things in life, our ability to call this or that little patch of dirt our own. Being able to scratch and scrape a living off of it without having to rely on anyone else. THAT is independence. THAT is freedom. THAT is, truly, the original American dream.
THIS IS MY LAND.
THERE IS MUCH LAND LIKE IT, BUT THIS LAND IS MINE!!
And God help anyone who tries to take it from me.
